Sunlight into my room :)

Sunday morning is always a pleasure. It is probably the only day of the week in a software engineer's life that goes without issue tracker, deliverable, code base, version, CM, PM, Billing, Client call, offshore mail reply, KT, queries etc..

It was one of those beautiful Sunday mornings in Chicago........

I woke up to see that it had rained overnight and drenched all the trees. The trees looked greener and the atmosphere was cold and pleasant to both mind and body. The trees looked so fresh like kids dressed up all red and green during Diwali time. The whole atmosphere was so romantic that it could deceive any on-looker from 6 to 60.

I brushed my teeth standing in the balcony. During week days I brush so fast that it feels like trees rattling in heavy storm. But today I had all the time the world to have a brush watching the tress romancing with the nature. A tree next to the balcony shook its head and sprinkled a few rain drops over my face. I stopped brushing for a second to cherish the moment of nature's compassion towards me. I lived and re-lived that moment in succession for my soul to get re-vitalized. My brushing looked so slumber that the brush strokes were so relaxing to my mouth.

I was done with brushing and just then my room-mate who was also thrilled about the weather gave me a cup of hot coffee. My God!!!! What a wonderful feeling!!! I kept it my hand and gazed at the trees enjoying the moment of unlimited pleasure and relaxation. I blew the coffee just to fell the warmth on my face. The coffee's warmth and the breeze which was patting on my head made me remember my Mom!!!!!!!

I had a refreshing bath in cold water. I came out after the bath to see sunlight falling gently over half of my room painting my room in white and black at the same time. My room looked like a bride with veil over her face, half of the face covered and half exposed. It was so contrasting to what I was experiencing half an hour back as the weather was so cool then...... It’s strange that nature could switch so quickly in such a short while and yet be so refreshing.

The sun rays were so gentle and soft that it looked like the sun was also relaxing and enjoying the weekend with all of us. I just did not want to come out of my room as it was so soothing to my soul. The moment was so still yet so rejuvenating. All these small joys are around me all the time. But all I am worried about is deliverable, client reply, offshore email, bug fix.

It was very bad of me to miss all these wonderful things. Why does one have to talk about work-life balance? Like brushing, bathing, praying, working is also a part of life which extends 8 to 9 hours for few and 15 to 16 hours for others. This in-turn displaces all wonderful things like moments of joy, bonding with family, talking to friends, playing a game. Give importance to work and enjoy your job, let it not rule your mind at any point of time. Live life to the fullest and enjoy every moment of it. Do not let some stupid issue in a web screen steal all the tiny pleasures scattered around you in abundance.

I am ready to enjoy another Sunday morning! How about you??? I know that you would also love to do it!!!! See you soon!!! :-)
